Find a 1/2 Marathon or Marathon, or Read Reviews Marathonguide.com is a great calendar tool for finding races near your home – or far away. Read the user reviews. They’re usually spot-on.
Get a Free Running, Walking, or Run/Walk Training Program If you’re just getting started, finding a program that’s fit for us is hard. Register for Free at Bumble Bee Tuna’s Beewellforlife.com site and download Coach Jenny Hadfield’s training programs.
Shop for Running or Walking Clothes that fit, wick sweat from your body, and look good. (Also, check out individual links in the “Shop Here” bar on the right. If you only want to shop at ONE store for all your needs, I’d recommend:
- New Balance Web Express, 2XL-4XL sizes for men, and XXL sizes for women.
- Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI), Extended Sizes for men, Plus Sizes for Women

Wetsuits That Fit Larger People I have used both Zoot and Xterra. If you are over a Size 20 and a woman, you’ll have to use the Xterra link; men over 250 lbs. will probably also be more comfortable in the Xterra, but feel free to give Zoot a try.
Great Triathlon Shorts for Women Danskin makes tri shorts up to a Size XXL (which should fit most of y’all out there, as it fit me!) If the 7″ inseam is available, buy it – it’s the best coverage. If you’re a 16-18, you should fit in the XL just fine. Above an 18, order the 5″ short in XXL. Alternatively, check out REI’s Compression Shorts, above, which are a great, wicking short, that will do in a pinch.
