Diane -
Don't sweat it! I'm glad to get into LRRH - especially considering the demand :) I'm very excited toooo to meet you and hopefully we CAN ride together (though I'm sure you'll be much faster than me)...

Hey, any advice on distances for training? I'm just going out this week for my first rides, and I'm trying to use my triathlon schedules as a base, but if you have a site or just a thought, let me know!
I'm planning to do 65....

Hello there!
Sorry it took me so long to get around to your post! So glad that you were able to get into LRRH. The ride sold out in something like 38 days. Can you believe that? I've got people banging down my door, offering to volunteer for a thousand hours if I can just get them in. Which I can't.

So excited to meet you and possibly ride together. Started some training rides last week. Just a little at a time. Biking hurts my herniated disc more than anything so little by little I hope to work up to around 65 miles or so. But we'll see how it goes.

Either way it is sure to be a good time. Take care and best wishes on all your events. It looks like a very exciting season!

Speaking of motivation, reading about your soggy run has motivated ME. And such a great point that running or walking with a friend is the best time to catch up on your love and work lives! Sometimes I find that a great conversation will keep me working out even longer, and that's not easy to make me do. :)

Good luck with your upcoming events, not that you need it! —Amy

Thanks, Jessica! If you're even thinking about Lifetime, I'd sign up for it. I've done the sprint several years, and like I said below, it's one of my favorites. The swim is wide open, the bike is gorgeous, and the run is pretty as all get out too. Plus the crowd support is wonderful. I'm tentative only because I may have a conflict that weekend, but if I'm in, I'll cheer you on as well!!!

Thanks, Kassie! I've actually done LIfetime before (but only the sprint) and I have to say, that's one of the prettiest Tris I've ever done. I love it. But you're right, the Athena category is crazy :) I do have to say, though, I medaled ONE time (the Wendy's Tri in Columbus) in this category and it was hysterical! And at Chicago, they offer three Athena weight categories, but the highest one is over 180 lbs. :)

Good luck to you too - which race are you doing in August???

All of these events look super fun! Wishing you the best of luck and speedy healing.

I live in Minneapolis and have been contemplating the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon in July. Maybe I'll see you there!

The Lifetime Tri is great. If you make it here, I'll cheer you on. But the Clydesdale/Athena category is totally ridic. Women over 150 pounds are consider Athenas. 150 pounds are skinny girls in my mind.

Good luck this summer. I'm doing my first sprint tri in August.
